PUNE, MAHARASHTRA — In a significant development in the Nashik IT company case, Assistant Director of Public Prosecution Bendbhar Kiran stated that the court has granted police custody of the accused until April 18, following arguments presented by the prosecution.
Speaking in Pune, Kiran explained that the prosecution argued for separate investigations, as the victims and incidents differ in nature and timeline. According to him, each complaint involves distinct circumstances, with varying forms of alleged harassment and misconduct, making it necessary to conduct individual inquiries for a thorough and fair investigation.
He подчеркнул that the court considered the legal provisions, case details, and arguments before granting police custody, allowing investigators more time to examine the allegations and gather evidence.
Providing further details, Kiran said that the case involves allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment, and both mental and physical abuse of a female employee at a private IT company. Two accused individuals were produced before the court, following a complaint filed by the victim, which led to the initiation of the investigation.
He added that the accused are believed to be habitual offenders, with multiple complaints reportedly registered against them by other victims at the police station. This aspect, according to the prosecution, further strengthened the need for detailed and separate investigations into each allegation.
The case has drawn attention due to the seriousness of the allegations and the involvement of multiple victims. Authorities are now expected to continue their investigation during the police custody period, focusing on gathering evidence, verifying claims, and establishing the sequence of events in each complaint.
Officials have подчеркнул the importance of following due process and ensuring that all allegations are examined thoroughly, given the sensitive nature of the case.
The court’s decision to grant police custody and allow separate investigations highlights the complexity of the case, as authorities work to ensure a comprehensive probe into multiple allegations of misconduct and harassment.
