Tejasvi Surya Blames Congress for Delay in Women’s Reservation Bill…

Date:

PUNE, MAHARASHTRA — BJP MP Tejasvi Surya criticised the Congress party over the Women’s Reservation issue, accusing it of delaying the implementation of 33% reservation for women.

Speaking in Pune, Surya said that despite efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress-led opposition alliance opposed the amendment related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament. He claimed that this led to a delay in implementing women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.

Surya stated that the amendment could have helped fast-track the implementation of 33% reservation before 2029, but the opposition’s stance has pushed the timeline further. He described the move as a deliberate attempt by Congress to block progress on women’s empowerment.

He also alleged that this is not the first time the Congress party has opposed women’s reservation, suggesting a pattern in its political approach over the years.

The remarks come amid ongoing political debate over the Women’s Reservation Bill and its implementation timeline, with both the BJP and opposition parties trading accusations over intent and responsibility.

Tejasvi Surya’s statement reflects the BJP’s position that the delay in implementing women’s reservation is due to opposition resistance, while the issue continues to remain a major political talking point.
