Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted an inspection of the much-anticipated ‘Missing Link’ project on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway in Lonavala, highlighting its significance as a major infrastructure milestone for the state.
During his visit, Shinde reviewed the progress of the project and interacted with officials and engineers overseeing the development. He described the ‘Missing Link’ as a “technological marvel” and an “engineering marvel,” emphasizing the scale and complexity of the construction involved. The project is considered one of the most ambitious upgrades to the existing expressway, aimed at improving connectivity between Mumbai and Pune.
A key highlight of the project, according to Shinde, is the construction of an advanced tunnel system. He stated that the tunnel built as part of the project is among the widest in the world, showcasing cutting-edge engineering and modern construction techniques. This feature is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring smoother and safer travel through the hilly terrain of the region.
