The Maharashtra Revenue Department has registered 3,436 women as farmers under the ongoing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maharajasva Samadhan Shibir (Revenue Resolution Camp), marking a significant step towards strengthening women’s recognition in agriculture and improving access to land-related rights.
The statewide campaign has also benefited more than 4.35 lakh citizens by providing revenue services and facilitating access to various government welfare schemes during its first six days.
Launched on July 22, the campaign will continue across Maharashtra until August 2. One of the key achievements of the campaign has been the formal registration of women as farmers, helping improve recognition of their role in agriculture and land ownership.
According to the Revenue Department:
- 3,436 women have been registered as farmers.
- The initiative aims to strengthen women’s land rights.
- Eligible women can access government schemes and agricultural benefits more easily through official recognition.
The move supports broader efforts to encourage greater participation of women in the agricultural sector. Among all regions, the Nagpur Division recorded the highest number of women receiving farmer status.
Registrations include:
- Nagpur Division: 1,219 women farmers
- Gondia: 1,067
- Gadchiroli: 75
- Bhandara: 39
- Chandrapur: 38
Officials said the strong response reflects growing awareness of the campaign’s benefits. Beyond women farmer registrations, the campaign has provided a wide range of revenue services and government scheme benefits.
Within the first six days:
- Over 4.35 lakh citizens received assistance.
- Camps were organised across Assembly constituencies.
- Around 15 different revenue-related services were made available closer to people’s homes.
The initiative aims to simplify public access to government services through on-the-ground outreach. Under the Swamitva Sanad programme, the Revenue Department distributed land ownership certificates to eligible beneficiaries.
Certificates were issued to:
- Nagpur: 426 beneficiaries
- Amravati: 368
- Akola: 294
- Gondia: 153
The programme helps provide legal recognition of land ownership to residents of village settlements. The campaign also focused on resolving pending agricultural access issues under the Chief Minister Baliraja Farm/Access Road Scheme.
Resolved cases include:
- Akola: 2,797 farm road disputes
- Gondia: 422
- Nagpur: 165
- Bhandara: 145
- Chandrapur: 92
Improved farm access is expected to help farmers reach their agricultural land more efficiently. Several other welfare initiatives were implemented during the campaign.
Under the Gharkul Housing Scheme, assistance was provided to:
- Chandrapur: 9,616 beneficiaries
- Gondia: 1,629
- Kolhapur: 519
The government also regularised older residential encroachments on government land, benefiting:
- Chandrapur: 617 families
- Nagpur: 536
- Gondia: 504
The campaign also made progress under the Jivant Satbara initiative, which focuses on updating land records and resolving revenue-related issues.
Issues were resolved for:
- Satara: 2,733 farmers
- Buldhana: 1,460
- Amravati: 660
- Nagpur: 652
- Sangli: 543
Officials said the initiative helps improve transparency and accuracy in land documentation. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the campaign aims to make government services more accessible by bringing administration closer to citizens.
He noted that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Revenue Department is committed to delivering transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric services across Maharashtra.
The campaign also received support from public representatives and local officials in facilitating service delivery.
